Dark Of The Moon | A Sacred Ritual & Workshop

  • MINKA brooklyn 1120 Washington Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11225 United States (map)

We all know about waxing New Moons and waning Full Moons, but what about Dark Moons?

The Dark Moon occurs during the last three days of the Lunar cycle, immediately preceding the New Moon. It is a time when there is no solar reflection, which leaves the lunar face in complete darkness.

The moon’s darkest phase has historically been a time of fear and superstition. The mythical embodiment of these fears was the Dark Goddess. Known around the world by many names – Lilith, Kali Ma, Hecate, Baba Yaga to name a few –  the archetypal Dark Goddess represents death, sexuality, and the unconscious; the little understood, often feared aspects of life. In reality, the Dark of the Moon is a powerful time of healing and renewal, rather than one of fear and unknowing. It is a sacred time of mystery, wisdom, and releasing deep-seeded fears –  all gifts of the Dark Goddesses.

Explore the power and magic of going within. In this part-ritual, part-workshop, we will honor this phase of the Moon (and of our lives) and call in the powerful protection of the Crone Maidens and the Ascended Masters. We will drink mugwort tea to enhance our psychic powers while creating a communal altar. You will leave empowered and ready for the New Moon, new tools to protect and strengthen your energetic fields, and a custom-made protection candle of your very own.

Please bring a notebook and pen. Feel free to bring an offering for our altar as well!
